Places I Remember: Hide From Daylight

Places I Remember is a series of abstract landscapes inspired by my memories of buildings I lived in or spent a significant time in. Each painting is accompanied by a short poem. In this series, I’ve incorporated hand drawn patterns and impasto techniques using casein paint with layer upon layer of watercolor and gouache paints for a unique texture in the finished piece.

This piece is 8x6 Watercolor, gouache, and casein paint on paper. Based on memories of the first place I lived away from family, at a dorm in New Mexico. The school wasn't my cup of tea, but the land is powerful and beautiful. One day I will go back.
