Places I Remember is a series of abstract landscapes inspired by my memories of buildings I lived in or spent a significant time in. Each painting is accompanied by a short poem. In this series, I’ve incorporated hand drawn patterns and impasto techniques using casein paint with layer upon layer of watercolor and gouache paints for a unique texture in the finished piece.
This is based on the memory of my grandma and grandpa's house. This large plum tree was right out front. It had these fantastic branches that reached out in every direction. It's not in the painting, but my grandpa used to do things like tie trees in knots when they were growing so just across from this plum tree were a few twisting and turning trees, beautiful in a different way.
